Old and new- Altes und Neues

I definitely needed a new place

to relax
to rejoice in silence
to be creative and at home

the living room area with kids flying in from every direction wasn't really what I looked for

too much confrontation with daily chores and everyone's moods.....

This week the shop was closed

we filled a lot bins with old clothes and clutter

and after all we left behind we discovered old treasures and built up new ones.
Look!
My new "craft and cure" room:

geht wohl allen Familienfrauen so.

It is very pink and pastel, I know but it had to, as contrast;)

An old acquaintance- my teddy Mr.BrownEyes- long lost and forgotten, now a new observer of everything creative

The daily mess and creative clutter on my desk has followed me upstairs and someone else- with the quilt hoop snuggled in the quilt wip.

Leo,the orange cat adopted the new space more easily than his brother who wanders around wondering what the crazy (female) humans got on their minds.

In the livingroom soft pink and orange pumpkin beauties conquered the table at least - not for long as they will be eventually made into jam and grilled veggies.
Beautiful colours and kind of voluptuous? let us say rich forms:)
Inspiration for a painting?

Left behind were those bulbs in rich colours which will be buried in the good earth to bloom next spring- I hope for some warmer autumn afternoons next week.

Today no stash photos, as I have to mount my heap of tiny scraps of the nineties, yes, I found some from 1995 to 2000, I cannot throw them away!
So if you look closer on my cluttered desk you will find the templates which I will try out for some small memory quilts on the still blank wall.

sunday stash- mal wieder Stoff(e) am Sonntag

This week new bolts from Westminster and eventually some Alexander Henrys- which I ordered in MARCH- arrived and I had to cut some pieces of these for my private stash-

yes, there is a private one in the building for some of the beauties vanish faster than I can say "cut".
Just a few solids and a b&w dot and... a dark dolly (doll quilt) arises from scraps:)

Kaffe Fasset- Embroidered Shawl red

Philipp Jacobs- English Rose black

Alexander Henry Natura- Canyon Flutter multi

wonderful as background: Alexander Henry Indochine- Chinese chalk black

for only one week - nur eine Woche

This quilt wip will stay alone on the design wall in the shop for one week.

After a new sewer construction for the last three months the pavement of the Heilkenstreet has to be renewed and the street will be closed for days.

We will make the best of this bad job and plan to move some furniture in our home.

To make life a little bit easier for teens and parents.

Btw I need a new place at home to sew. Just for fun............:)

Quilt festival

Again it is time for a worldwide blogger's quilt festival hosted by Amy

Inspiration galore

and many more reasons to join in

I show you one of my first original patterns quilt , "Asters" feat. Valori Wells'big asters from her "Ecclectic" line

-an all time favourite of mine which I love and want to redo from time to time in new fabric combos.

It is not so big just "49 x 62"- perfect for a weekend sewing.

I started with choosing a large print and try to use up all those fat quarters with checks and stripes, tonals and dots in the same colourway.

so I made one in pink for summer nights

in blue for my friend Ursel

in rust, one which is still in my "to handquilt pile"

and the updated 2009 version with "Kirman orange" by Kaffe Fassett as feature fabric

which snuggles against the rust one.

I'd like to make one with black background fabrics. And you?

Just a tick- nur einmal beißen

Nun weiterhin hochdosiert Antibiotika.

Just a tick.

I hardly noticed it at first, but who took a look on my leg last week could easily get the creeps:
red- hot - swollen- plus lots of pain and worries how to treat it right.

Ice- drugs - antibiotics- different ointments- nothing worked.

A blood test- big bruise on my arm- revealed the tick's legacy.

Antibiotics in high dosage should combat those nasty borrelias.

As long walks were not on my list last week
I gave last stitches to a lot of UFOs
I found in my scrap bag and started to handquilt a wip of 2007.

"Martha's Indian Summer", touched in January 2008 by KF himself has every right to be finished before winter comes.
With lots of rain and drizzle today it's good to snuggle under the quilting hoop.

Knitting my way through the new yarns of autumn/winter collections 2009 I finished two great gift ideas for best friends
one skein soft, thick alpaca blend for the cabled one
and three balls of lustrous hand dyed silk for the fan neckwarmer.
I am on the second one in dark sapphire blue.
